Уместо да 20. октобра ода пошту војницима совјетске армије који су погинули у акцијама ослобађања Београда, председник Србије Александар Вучић је положио цвеће на споменик Незнаном јунаку на Авали, који је подигнут између два рата, у част свих погинулих неидентификованих војника.
Имена совјетских војника који су ослобађали Београд су позната и налазе се уклесана на спомен таблама у оквиру комплекса Гробља ослободилаца Београда 1944.
